Bio
Raymond Bruns
Writer & Lyricist
My name is Raymond Bruns. I'm originally from a small town in Missouri, called Gray Summit. Interesting note is that I grew up, living my elementary school years on Purina Farms, located in that town. You might know it as the place where Purina's dog shows are located. Both my mother and grandmother worked for Purina and my grandfather being a farmer used to shear sheep and help out around the farm as well.
I currently still live in Missouri just outside of Gray Summit with my wife Angela, daughter's Alexandra and Mackenzie and our two Labradors, Ava and Nova.
I have faced many trying times in my life. There are too many to go into in this bio, but at somepoint would like to put them into a book. These trials I am very open about. Many have led to multiple mental health issues, including severe depression, anxiety, ADHD and borderline personality disorder (emotional disregulation disorder). I don't shy away from them nor do I hide them. I use them for fuel to write the lyrics to all of the songs you hear on this website. I often find hearing my stories, my thoughts, feelings, beliefs and struggles in music form to be very therapeutic. In fact on this website, I plan to share the stories behind each song (lyrics) and why I wrote them. At times you will find multiple versions of the same songs (lyrics) on my website, in different genres or styles, with different melodies or different vocals, just to give an idea of the different avenues or genre of songs the lyrics might work with. Some people may relate to the lyrics in a country format, but others may connect to the lyrics more in a rap format. So, if you see or hear two different versions of a song with the same lyrics that is why.
It should be noted that I will never claim to write the music portion of these songs, such as the melody, instrumentals nor do I voice the vocals. If at somepoint I do, I will let everyone know, but as of now I do not. I will never take credit for something I don't do. The melody, instrumentals and vocals are currently created using an AI software program called SUNO. I do have input on the genre of song that I want to put my lyrics to, along with male or female vocals and any other elements I choose to include such as specific instruments I want to hear and any other specific elements I would like to hear included in the song. My creations are like taking a picture/photo with a camera. I input what settings I want into the software, along with my 100 percent written lyrics and I get the output, which like a photo, is the song/picture created. These songs are what I call a picture into my life, my heart, my soul. Again, all of the lyrics you hear, and exactly how they are arranged, are 100 percent me and written by me. I do copyright these lyrics through the Library of Congress.
Many people will say AI is soulless and doesn't take any skill, and while I can see that point, I will also say that if the words are 100 percent genuine and written by a human, the songs I would argue are in fact not soulless at all. In fact, AI allows for many people who have difficulty in playing an instrument or singing or creating melodies a way to still get their stories out and shared with the world. We all have stories and in my opinion we all deserve to be heard. It is also my opinion that it is hard to get people to listen to a person just talk. Music rather provides an avenue that many people can connect with and are more likely to listen to, so that is why I choose to share my stories in this format instead of just through regular spoken word.
My ultimate goal in writing these is to simply share my story, but also in the hopes that someday I can work with actual musicians to get my lyrics heard on a national stage and/or on the radio. People will often say, "Well, why don't you write your own music, by creating your own melodies and learn to play an instrument and learn to sing." My response to that is that first and foremost I love to write. Writing lyrics is what I enjoy most. As for singing, you probably don't want to hear that. LOL! As for the other aspects of the actual music, I would love to learn at some point and I just may, but for now with my Borderline Personality Disorder and ADHD, I often get frustrated easily and easily distracted and have trouble managing my emotions, so it makes learning difficult things just that much harder for me. I hope to overcome that someday and be able to play an instrument and write my own melodies, but until then I will continue to write lyrics and do what I enjoy most. Plus, I would argue that you hear many artists/singers that do not write 100 percent of there music, nor do they produce it, they simply sing. It is rare for someone to do every aspect of music creation, rather they simply may or may not have input on many aspects.
So here I am just a normal person, no one important in the eyes of many, except maybe to God, as we all are. I'm just trying to fit into this world and share my story in hopes it can help someone during their journey in life, with the belief that true connection is in the stories we share.
So, I hope you enjoy listening and if you ever would like to collaborate on a piece of music, such as me writing or helping write the lyrics for a song or any aspect I can be of value to you or would like to purchase rights to my lyrics or obtain a license to use my lyrics feel free to reach out to me through this site and inquire. If you would like for me to be a part of writing anything else, please also reach out. I love to write and collaborate!
